Digital Imaging Photography Versus Traditional Film Photography

The photography industry is still in shock about how quickly digital imaging photography wiped the floor with the tradition methods of film shooting and development.

Industry standards such as Kodak and Agfa have seen their operations dramatically decrease in size whilst Japanese companies such as Sony and Fuji have come in to take their place.

Digital imaging photography is a whole new art within the reach of anyone all around the World.

Someone who has graduated from the realms of film photography will have to get used to a whole new set of terminologies.

The realization that this is a concept based around computers is hard to take in for many people. That it is chemical free and that a person can not only develop his own photographs they can also touch them up beforehand to improve the quality of the shot before hand.

So what are the processes involved in digital photography. What should you know and what do you have to beware of.

Firstly taking a photograph with a digital camera is an entirely different ball game from a traditional shutter lens film camera. The reaction time in a digital camera is a few seconds slower than in a digital camera so you have to be prepared at all times if you want to take a lot of shots of a single scene.

Digital cameras concentrate more on the sensor and increasing the resolution of the shot. On the other hand you can take so many more photographs with a digital camera than with a traditional film camera. And you never need to change the film!

But where digital photography pulls away from its opposition is in its ability to process hundreds of digital images, store them indefinitely on your hard disc till you are ready to pick out the pick of the bunch for photo enhancement and eventual printing.

There are many computer programs that you can use for digitally enhancing your photographs. The pick of the bunch is Adobe Photoshop, and has been since the very early days of digital imaging photography.

The permutations for digitally enhancing images using Photoshop, are simply limitless. Contrast, color correction and brightness adjustment are just a few of the adjustments you can make to your image. You can manipulate the background, add features and even remove annoying intruders from the image. Your Aunt that you never liked or some telephone lines. You can simply brush them out of the shot and they will be gone forever.

Once you have enhanced your images and are happy with them, then finally you can simply print them out on your printer. You will be amazed at how clear these images will turn out. As good if not better than a real photograph, skeptics grudgingly admit.
